About Lisa Carroll – the ingredient change maker behind the Australian Beauty industry and a decade of evolving the botanical extract: advancing plant science and green chemistry, connecting brands and growers, advocating eco-responsible ingredient choices, pioneering Australia’s Upcycled Beauty ingredients.

Lisa Carroll created NATIVE EXTRACTS in 2012, and took sole ownership in 2016 where she established the company as a leading Australian phyto-tech business.

NATIVE EXTRACTS has redefined the knowledge and potential of ‘True to Nature’ plant-based ingredients, with their innovative Cellular Extraction protocols that transfer the botanical’s hydrophilic entourage of phyto-compounds across the cell membrane of fruits, flowers, leaves, fungi etc and suspend them in a format for brands, formulating chemists and research institutes to further innovate and understand.

She is at the forefront of skincare and wellness ingredient innovation. A pioneering advocate for ethical, inclusive and eco-responsible practices, Lisa has championed Australia’s native plant extract industry with advances in green chemistry and plant science, and recently launched Australia’s most ambitious Upcycled ingredient initiative, Red Velvet Oil, bringing to market a new ‘active’ oil-soluble ingredients for purpose-driven bands.

She has driven the growth of the A(ustralian) Beauty movement through her extensive botanical library of plant profiles, working closely with primary producers, including First Nation growers, to discover new species for inspiring skincare ingredients.

Her expertise has made her a sought-after consultant to purpose-driven brands and speakers at brand events, universities and industry events, where she lectures on native species commercialisation, harnessing natural compounds, shares insights from her extensive extract research and how to bridge science with vitality for brand success.

Lisa has recently been acknowledged in a Teir 1 Journal - Biomedicines, featuring the latest research on a number of Cellular Extracts and their down regulation of inflammation via the Nitric oxide pathway.

Lisa leads a team of extraction experts and biochemists that drive for and share knowledge on what can be harnessed from unique botanical species’ cells, for others to further innovate from.
